INFECTION CONTROL

Proper infection control and universal precautions benefit and your and our staff. Highpoint Dental Medicine follows the guidelines of several federal agencies including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

These guidelines include:

§   Use of disinfectant hand soap

§   Use of gloves, face masks and safety glasses (glasses are also provided for patients)

§   Chemical disinfection of countertops and surfaces

§   Sterilization of all equipment before every use 

§   Use of disposable materials

We sterilize all non-disposable equipment, including dental handpieces with a device called an autoclave that kills bacteria and viruses with steam, heat and pressure.The best defense against disease is information, and Highpoint Dental Medicine is committed to providing you with information regarding our daily procedures. The more you know, the more comfortable you will feel and the better equipped you will be to make wise decisions about your health care.
