As the holidays get closer many of us love to take this time to get together with friends and family. We share stories, share memories and make some new ones too. Also during this time is when many of us are presented with candy, cakes and other types of goodies. While indulging may be part of your holiday it is important to recognize how it can affect your overall health.
Be aware of your plate. Try to load up on the the fruit and veggie trays before you grab those sugary treats. This way you will limit how much dessert you will actually eat.
Eat Before You Head Out. Simply if you eat healthy options before you head to that holiday party you will be less likely to reach for those cookies.
Take a walk. If you take a short walk before you eat and after it will not only give you time to digest, but it will also help you realize how much you ate any maybe you won’t go back for seconds.
Healthy eating habits are a lifestyle so make sure to incorporate your good oral health into that healthy lifestyle as well. Brushing twice a day and flossing are just the essentials. Maybe this holiday season you can treat yourself to an electronic toothbrush. Or maybe if your were nice this year, put it on your wish list and Santa will bring you one!
